Biology

Term:
  • Fall 2009
    Teacher:

I will post a summary of each day's classwork and homework on the "Date Due." So for example, the work that was completed on the first day of school will be listed under the due date of Tues. Sept. 8, 2009. This will allow students and parents to check for work that they may miss due to absences and/or double check on homework assignments.

The goals of Biology I are to help students make connections between living things (including themselves) and the biological processes that sustain life on Earth. It will also teach students how to think critically and solve problems about the natural world, using data and evidence. The critical parts of the course will be writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading (WICR). All students will be welcomed and challenged in my class. We will work together (students and teacher) to create a learning community in which students collaborate and are also responsible for their individual achievement. Laboratory work and hands-on activities will be crucial parts of the course.
